Providing Housing And Support For Those
With Mental And Substance use Challenges

VACSI works hard to provide attractive, comfortable places to live.

Valley Supportive Housing today is successfully fulfilling its mission and providing attractive, affordable housing to those with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or substance use issues. Its apartments are comfortable and fully equipped with a modern kitchen or cooking facilities, appliances, and an updated bath.

Most Valley Supportive Housing apartments are provided with a washer and drier, some have building washers and driers available for their use without charge.  All apartments have water and cable television services included in their below-market rent.  All but the original 10 apartments include all utilities in the rent.

The VSH facilities are maintained well and are an attractive part of their communities.  One more recent project, a house at the corner of Kalorama Street and Coalter, is in a Staunton historic district.  It was not only renovated to provide 8 apartments, its external appearance was actually restored to its original design - and the property fully met all historic requirements.

Valley Supportive Housing has established a reputation of working closely with local governmental authorities and other groups on behalf of its residents.  It also supports its community by purchasing as much of its supplies locally as possible.  When renovating properties, VSH makes every effort to use local contractors and to buy materials from local suppliers.
